I love a good nickname. I'm just not the best at doling them out. If you want to check out someone who can shoot out a good nickname faster than speeding bullet check out Is this thing on? I need some serious lessons, which became shockingly clear last night.
First of all, I found that it is important to know the meaning of the word you intend to use as a nick name. Don't just make up a word because it rhymes with, lets just say, your fiance's name. This may seem obvious to some, but apparently I was a little slow to catch on.
Joel (the word, not the person) just doesn't rhyme with much and I love a good rhyming nickname. Something that just rolls right off your tongue. So at some point I started calling him Joel the smole or schmole. It flows and sounds funny and so it stuck. I really didn't think it had a meaning. That was, until last night.
A quick google search and this is what I found courtesy of the Urban Dictionary:
- a tattoo that is total crap and will become, if not already, more embarassing with age.
- I will leave this one out since it might not be that appropriate for work
- It simply means slutty mole
- A ridiculously Small or large creature
- a word which can be used in the place of any emotive word
- A small mole
- A person who smokes massive amounts of cigarettes in their house
Lesson Learned.... no more Joel the smole!
